                                         Moodboards

My moodboard

Im very much into bold, vibrant colours, and intricate details, as you can tell from my choice of images on this moodboard.
I've chosen mostly fashion icons and garments which consist of luminous shades and interesting, geometric patterns

Hannah's choice of images contain very interesting detailed and stylish garments.
Judging by the patterns, she takes an interest in geometric colours, aswell as sophisticated menswear which included mostly muted tones

                      DESIGNERS-ISSEY MIYAKE

Issy Miyake is a famous fashion designer born in Japan, Hiroshima in 1938.
He is best known for combining Eastern and Western elements in his work. Pleats Please is his iconic line.
He studied fashion at a renowned dressmaking school in Paris, and studied under some of fashions great designers such as; Geoffrey Beene and Hubert de Givenchy.
In 1964 he graduated from the University of Tokyo. In 1965 he moved to Paris to study design at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. In 1966 he left to work as an assistant designer at Guy Laroche. In 1971 he founded the Issey Miyake Design Studio in Tokyo. He also opened a boutique at Bloomingdales in New York.
During the 70's while still based in Tokyo, Miyake began to show his collections twice a year in Paris and they rapidly became fashion shows.
In 1976 he presented 12 black american girls to showcase his designs in Osaka which were seens by 15,000 people.
In the late 80s, he began to experiment with new methods of pleating, He did the costume for Ballett Frankfurt with pleats in a piece named 'the Loss of Small Detail " William Forsythe and also work on ballet " Garden in the setting ".

Like many fashion designers, Issey Miyake also has a line of perfumes. His first fragrance, the light aquatic-floral L'eau d'Issey for women, was launched in 1992.
In 1994 and 1999, Miyake turned over the design of the men's and women's collections respectively, to his associate,
Naoki Takizawa, so that he could return to research full-time. In 2007, Naoki Takizawa opened his own brand, supported by the Issey Miyake Group and was replaced, as a Creative Director of the House of Issey Miyake, by Dai Fujiwara.

When Issey Miyake entered university and obtained Western magazines, he was inspired by the fashion photographs of Richard Avedon.

I am very fond of this designer and I particulary like the pleated details in Issey Miyakes work, and the way he constructs the structure of his garments.
I also like the way his work varies from a drapey effect to stiff shapes.

In the image above of the fashion show, i like the way there is pleated decoration on the ceiling panels-which resembles Miyakes work.

When Issey Miyake entered university and obtained Western magazines, he was inspired by the fashion photographs of Richard Avedon.

Celebrity interest in Issey Miyake brand clothing has been prolific with rappers such as Jay-Z, Twista, and Gorilla Zoe all mentioning the line in their song lyrics. Additionally, the brand name has appeared in music by Pet Shop Boys, on television series such as HBO’s Entourage, and in the Bourne Ultimatum (though the sweater worn by Jason Bourne in the film is inside out.

             Meadham Kirchhoff

Edward Meadham is english and Benjamin Kirchoff is from sete in the south of France.
Edward studied womenswear and Benjamin studied menswear, both at Central Saint Martins. They launched a menswear label, "Benjamin Kirchhoff", after graduating.

Following their graduation they launched a menswear label called "Benjamin Kirchhoff” but ended up establishing the label as Meadham Kirchhoff in February 2006 with their first womenswear collection.

Meadham Kirchhoff is stocked globally by the world’s outstanding retailers including Net a Porter, Harvey Nichols, Joyce, On Pedder, Maxfield, Ikram, Club 21, Al Ostoura and Luisa Via Roma.

The brand won the Emerging Talent - Ready-to-Wear award at the British Fashion Awards 2010 and was nominated for the British Fashion Council / Vogue Designer Fashion Fund
2012.
Meadham Kirchoffs latest collection is mostly print and knitted in bright colours,
Very vibrant and crazy aswell as playful, theatrical and high fashion.
Last season,Meadham Kirchoff took inspiration from Taboo, the early-80s London club populated by luminaries including Boy George performance artist Leigh Bowery, designer John Galliano and milliner Stephen Jones.

Meadham Kirchhoff's atmospheric presentations are more like theatre, and loved by the press all the more for it. This time around, their world was about twisted fairytale motifs – featuring ribboned bodices, prints with gilt swirls, cavalier hats and highwayman boots – and a Marie Antoinette-style decadence.

Stripped leggings, socks and sandal combinations and long blonde wigs adorning the male models heads are certainly not going to be to everyone’s taste but if you took the time to delve deeper into the collection and broke down the collective mass into individual pieces, there was a lot to take from the collection. Beautiful mustard yellow coats with intricate embellishment, high-waisted tapered trousers (a personal favourite) and long sleeve striped tees all added up for a show that anyone could take inspiration from.
